Certificate IV in Sport Coaching – SIS40319

Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply the skills and knowledge to pursue a range of roles within the Australian sport industry.

They work or volunteer at community-based sport clubs and organisations in the Australian sport industry.

Individuals with this qualification are involved in the self-directed application of knowledge and skills, and the provision of leadership and support to colleagues. They work autonomously and coordinate and supervise others.

Possible job titles include:

  • High performance coach
  • Sport development manager
  • Talent manager.

Specific industry accreditation requirements may apply to sport-specific coaching accreditation and information should be obtained from the relevant National Sporting Organisation (NSO).

Entry Requirements

To enter SIS40319 – Certificate IV in Sport Coaching, candidates should have a year 11 school certificate, its equivalent or maturity and appropriate life experience. It is recommended that candidates have relevant experience to indicate likely success at this level of qualification in a job role involving:

  • The self-directed application of knowledge with substantial depth in some areas
  • The exercise of independent judgement and decision-making
  • The application of relevant technical and other skills.

Duration of Qualification and Volume of Learning

This program is a full-time course completed over a period of 2 years full time

The AQF Volume of Learning for a SIS40319 Certificate IV in Sport Coaching is 600 ~ 2400 hours. 11 units must be completed:

  • 7 core units
  • 4 elective units, consisting of either:
  • 1 unit from Group A or Group B or Group C
  • at least 2 units from the electives listed in Group E
  • up to 1 elective unit which can be selected from elsewhere in the SIS Training Package, or from any other current Training Package or accredited course

All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
