Individuals with this qualification are involved in the self-directed application of knowledge and skills, and the provision of leadership and support to colleagues. They work autonomously and coordinate and supervise others.

Entry Requirements
To enter SIS40321 – Certificate IV in Sport Coaching, candidates should have a year 11 school certificate, its equivalent or maturity and appropriate life experience. It is recommended that candidates have relevant experience to indicate likely success at this level of qualification in a job role involving:
- The self-directed application of knowledge with substantial depth in some areas
- The exercise of independent judgement and decision-making
- The application of relevant technical and other skills.

The AQF Volume of Learning for a SIS40321 Certificate IV in Sport Coaching is 600 ~ 2400 hours. 11 units must be completed:
- 7 core units
- 4 elective units, consisting of either:
- 1 unit from Group A or Group B or Group C
- at least 2 units from the electives listed in Group E
- up to 1 elective unit which can be selected from elsewhere in the SIS Training Package, or from any other current Training Package or accredited course
All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
