The enrolment procedure for local students at ACC (Australian Counselling Course) includes several steps to ensure compliance with the VET Student Loans (VSL) Act 2016 and VET Student Rules 2016. Here’s a streamlined breakdown of the key steps and requirements for local students, particularly those applying for a VET Student Loan:
1. Application Process
- Fill out the application form via the ACC website or office.
- Review and agree to ACC’s student policies on the website, including the privacy policy, course fees, and VSL requirements.
- Ensure that all information provided is accurate and true.
2. Documentation Required
- Proof of citizenship or permanent residency in Australia (e.g., passport).
(if applying for a VET Student Loan, we need evidence of Australian Citizenship) - Additional photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License).
– Academic documents as evidence of Prior learning as required per course and or VSL eligibility - A passport-sized photo for the student card.
- Unique Student Identifier (USI) unless exempt.
3. VET Student Loan Applicants
- Must meet specific citizenship/residency requirements:
- Be an Australian citizen or a qualifying New Zealand citizen.
- Be a permanent humanitarian visa holder residing in Australia.
- Must have a positive FEE-HELP balance.
- Be 18 years or older (or provide parental consent if under 18).
- Must be enrolled in an approved course with an approved provider.
- Demonstrate academic suitability by:
- Providing an Australian Year 12 Certificate, or
- Evidence of completing an AQF Certificate IV or higher, or
- Showing competence at exit level 3 in reading and numeracy via an LLN test.
- Provide a Tax File Number (TFN) and USI.
- Provide ACC with all required documents and submit the eCAF at least two business days after enrolment before the first census day.
- Engage with the course by completing the Progression Form three times during the course.
4. Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment
- Applicants without certain academic qualifications must pass the LLN assessment.
- The assessment is conducted online and supervised by ACC staff.
- Results are shared with the student and reported as required.
5. eCAF Process
- Eligible students receive an electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form (eCAF) via email.
- The form must be completed using a unique passkey provided through email.
- You will receive an email from ecafsystem@education.gov.au containing a Passkey – a unique code to access and complete your eCAF.
- The eCAF submission is required to finalize the loan application.
- An eCAF can only be submitted at least 2 business days after initial enrolment into the course. Vet Student Loans will not be approved for students who do not meet the eligibility requirements.
6. Confirmation and Orientation
- Upon completing all steps, students receive:
- A Confirmation of Enrolment email.
- A Statement of Covered Fees (for VET Student Loan applicants).
- Orientation details.
- Login credentials for the eLearning platform, provided one week before course commencement.
Important Notes:
Students must read the VET Student Loans Information Booklet before applying:
https://www.dese.gov.au/vet-student-loans/resources/vet-student-loans-information-booklet
- Incomplete documentation or failure to meet eligibility criteria will result in ineligibility for the loan.
- The VET Student Loans process and additional steps are outlined in a flow chart on the ACC website.
This process ensures that students understand their responsibilities and meet the academic and administrative requirements for course enrolment and VET Student Loan eligibility.
